Face Shield M V4.1 (1200).jpg

Face Shield - M

Our M design is inspired by other efforts in the community but ensures that there are absolutely no gaps on the front of the shield and the top over the forehead is covered to prevent droplets from getting on the user’s face. Starting with V4, you can stack the head pieces and optional bottom pieces during printing allowing for greatly optimized print jobs especially with overnight printing. This design is more suitable for reuse than the S design. Inspired by the Prusa Research Face Shield.

NIH listing for our M Design

Files Updated: 4/6/2020

V4.1 Changes

  • Improved fit of clips on the Head Piece that hold the foil in place

  • Added a version of the Head Piece and Bottom that is compatible with Foils cut from thicker 0.034in PETG

V4 Changes

  • Stackable design to optimize overnight printing

  • Thinner main band

  • Less severe forehead visor

  • ~40% less plastic

  • Print almost twice as fast

  • Optional bottom reinforcement

Face Shield S Front.png

Face Shield - S

Our S doesn’t actually use any 3D printed parts and is faster and more cost-effective to produce while offering essentially the same functionality of the M design. This design is similar to the single-use face shields already in use by the medical industry. Due to the use of foam, which can be difficult to sanitize properly, the S Design is only recommended for single-use. The foam is closed cell, so droplets should not be able to penetrate it.

V2 Changes

  • Added optional version with bottom reinforcement

  • The S design uses the same foil and optional bottom reinforcement as the M design

Face Mask (2000).png

Face Mask - Washable

The face mask design is reusable, machine washable, and ergonomically shaped. To fit as many faces as possible, the mask is cut generously around the nose and cheek. The mask is made from hospital grade sterilization wrap, which offers an efficient microbial barrier, with a high-level of protection against fluids and particles. This material is typically sterilized and discarded after use, but we are giving it a new life. These masks are not direct substitutes for N95, surgical, or procedural masks. Inspired by this Flu Face Mask Design.
